Friday missive
Good god, I’ve managed to keep to the intention of one of these each Friday! Well, ok, its a run of One so far, but its a start. Lets see if I can keep it going.
1st up - main main Glyn Maier is in the UK! You’ve missed him at Bristol (that was last night) but on Saturday Glyn is at Smallpress Studios in Stockport, then Boro on Monday (as part of our Monday Night in Middlesbrough series). The UK tour wraps up in London at Iklectik, Wednesday. Go see him!
Come to Teesside - after Glyn (+ Night Foundation + Death Disco…I know, I know, you want to move to Boro, don’t you) we have Me Lost Me opening Middlesbrough Art Week on Thursday 28 Sept, then A Man Called Adam + Andrea Parker on Thursday 5 October. Hide (fucking Hide!) then play on Monday 9 October. We are, indeed, the epicentre of the experimental music universe.
Recent IC Releases? Yes…LOUSE!
Purveyors of the finest Cellar-dweller scum rock.
The Captain, and all who sail with him, invite you to join them in hell. Do join in…
Catch Louse on tour with the brilliant BRAK over the next week or so (saw them both at the Lubber Fiend in Newcastle last night…punks not dead).
The Wicker Man tape sold out on pre order in 24 hrs - no more, and no digital. We ship next weekend. Thanks for the amazing support on that one.
New in the distro - 4 new titles via Discreet Gbg…including new Blod:
Brilliant stuff as ever from Discreet - & this, via Flat Plastic is a bit special too:
From Helen Scarsdale Agency, we have She Spread Sorrow…this is up there with my favourite releases of the year to date. Give it a listen:
We also have left the bundle deals open…because needs fucking must. I’ll remove them all when I’m sick of having massively discounted offers up in store. But for now…theres Noise, theres Working Man Lay Down, Deathbed, Drowned by Locals, Enmossed and more - all at maddeningly great deals:
T-shirts you say? The wonderous tories: are shite (inspired of course by Mogwai claiming Blur were shite too) is available. In Black (or White) as the last iteration in pink proved not everyone is comfortable with such vibrant hues:
You’ll notice in that link the Monday Night tee too, alongside the latest (& I think very last) version of the Northern Scum tee. Nirvana, Beautiful South, T Dan Smith, The Shadow Ring - influences & inspiration all included.
Bit of politics you say? Fuck net zero if it means the Tories cling on to a couple of marginals. Who wants to save the world anyway? Kids in portacabins at school, to avoid concrete falling on their heads? They love it man. Boats? Boats? Oh do just fuck off back to France. Getting all matey with the fascist leaders of Italy? Why the hell not, stop being so bastard woke. Labour being friendly with EU leaders - wankers. They will be making croissants for breakfast compulsory if they win the next GE (of which there won’t be one of Sunak can think of a good enough reason…state of emergency maybe?).
tories. they are absolute shite. You should buy a tee that states that fact. Now where could you possibly find one?
Have a great weekend (if in the uk - avoid rivers & beaches…full of shit. literally).
Rule fucking Brittania.
Steve
